Travel Nurse FAQ

How long are travel nursing assignments?

It depends! The standard timeframe for a contract assignment is 13 weeks – however there are assignments as short as daily work (PRN) or 8 weeks and as long as 26 weeks. Toward the final 3 – 5 weeks of your assignment, many providers receive an extension offer to continue working.

Do I have to travel or can I work close to home?

It’s your choice! You can travel across the country or across town – whatever works best for your career and personal life. There will be unlimited options of open positions to choose from – the beauty of being a travel nurse is the freedom and flexibility!

How do I get paid and do you offer benefits?

Providers are paid weekly via direct deposit. In addition to highly competitive pay, you will be eligible for benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401K, and based on eligibility per government guidelines, tax-free per diem and stipends.

Can I travel if I have a family or pets?

Yes! Many travel nurses choose to balance family and career by bringing their spouse, partner, children or pets along for the journey. When traveling with family or companions, please keep in mind when choosing your housing that many facilities have occupancy limits and both breed and size limitations that can influence your options and overall cost.

What travel nursing job opportunities are available for recent graduates?

Great question! We love newly trained providers – however you must have at least 1 year of clinical experience in order to work travel assignments. However, our friendly recruiters can help consult with you on the requirements needed to pave the path to get you started and on the road.

Can I find a travel partner RN to work at the same assignment?

Like the saying goes – Two is always better than one! Our team is happy to work with your colleagues, spouses or friends to arrange travel jobs within the same facility or general area.

In fact, if you refer a friend you can become enrolled in our Catapult It Forward refer a friend program!
